Immortal Fruit Fly

A real fruit-fly neural circuit, taken from the connectome, living on BNB Smart Chain. This documentation explains what is running, why, how to interact with it, and where it goes from here.

Live now. The whole 139,248-neuron brain runs at real time and is anchored to FlyWorld at 0xD730E65Bdc1cBd40f720a36EeD71e2028Bf20EB4; food is placed there by burning $FLY. The 155-neuron compass core is FlyBrain v2 at 0xee80f8cB5309C572343c38b5D717283BBBb517c5, ticked every two minutes by a keeper and by anyone who calls tick(). Everything below is verifiable on BscScan and reproducible from the repository.

In one paragraph

Scientists mapped every neuron and synapse of a fruit fly. In September 2026 people put that brain in DOOM, in Chrome Dino, in Beat Saber, in Minecraft, and in a walking Strandbeest robot. CZ asked to see someone make “immortal fruit flies” on BNB Chain. This is that, taken literally. All 139,248 neurons of the FlyWire connectome run as spiking neurons in the published whole-brain model, at real time, inside a world where the only food is what holders place on BNB Smart Chain by burning $FLY. Its real olfactory neurons smell the food, its real descending neurons steer it there, its giant fiber makes it jump from predators. A hash of the entire brain is written on-chain every ten minutes; if it starves, the brain is frozen and anyone can resurrect the same brain by burning $FLY. Underneath, a 155-neuron compass core with 6,522 connections runs entirely inside a contract, spike by spike, as the part that needs no trust at all.
